If you take something that doesn't belong to you, you should give it back
I really don't think that having a giant fence along the Mexican border is such a bad idea, but, since respecting territorial integrity is such a great idea, rather than having the fence along the 1856 border, why not put it along the 1834 border?

'Great idear borrow. Who needs Texas and them other states anywho. And think of the good will we would generate by willingly giving up a million square miles of resources. The international communitity would be like, 'they gave up what?' We could always just invade and get it back. That would take about ten minutes. And what difference would it make, Texmex would become Mextex. THe gringos now mexican citzens wd pay less taxes and could still golf and buy assault weapons.
Borrow, it's at least worth floating it to your Beltway consultants. Of course Foghornleghorn will have to be brought in somehow. Maybe Delay could be some sort of majordomo with his own fiefdom and oil revenues. Well, those are mere details. Again, a bold stroke, brilliant. The more I think of it, the more I am convinced it must be done. It's actually very difficult to see how it could fail. Ring of invincibility.
